Apartmenthotel Schillerhof

We keep coming back to Bad Gastein, and Schillerhof is where we like to stay. From the terrace, the valley view is gorgeous, and the apartments have good kitchens, comfortable beds, and plenty of privacy. Apartment 12 had three nice rooms, two larger and one smaller, plus two bathrooms with a toilet and shower. The apartment itself was big and cozy, with a fully equipped kitchen. There’s also a small pool, two saunas, and a relaxation area with a lovely view, as well as a ski room. Bad Gastein is beautiful, surrounded by mountains, with a breathtaking waterfall running through the town center. It’s great for winter skiing, with many resorts nearby, and there’s the Felsentherme thermal spa and plenty of lovely walks in town and the woods.

Getting into the city center on foot was difficult for me because I really missed having a sidewalk. The skibus runs once an hour, which is pretty rare. The apartment was comfortable and very well equipped. All the jacuzzis in the wellness area were out of order, unfortunately, but the pool had a beautiful view and was amazing.

The view was fantastic, and the spa on the ground floor was good, though the overall standard felt average. Each room has six beds across three bedrooms, but the two extra beds in the sofa are really poor. We couldn’t enter the hotel until 15:00, not even to leave our bags. The cleaning wasn’t done properly, and the replacement sheets we received were damp. I had to argue with the manager to get the problems sorted.

The rooms were spacious, very nice, and well equipped, but our room was booked for five and only had four beds plus an uncomfortable sort of side bed. The host was very rude and barely spoke English. They also only take cash. The tourist tax and room warranty together came to well over 200 euros for five people, and not everyone has that much cash with them.
