We came to Gerlos for a summer fortnight, which felt a little unusual for a ski resort, but there was plenty to keep us busy. We rode nearby cable cars up the mountain and walked back down, cycled around the hydro dams at Duriassboden and Finkenberg, and found lots of other hiking to do. There are also plenty of different restaurants nearby for dinner. The house sits up the hill, away from the main road, so our clean room was peaceful and had a stunning mountain view. We enjoyed the roof sundeck after using the nice sauna downstairs, which was easy to reach by lift. Parking was no problem in the house’s own underground garage. Renate and her husband Joseph did their best to make sure we had a good time, and they certainly succeeded. Renate welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home right away. The pension had the quality of a high-end hotel with a personal touch. We loved the modern mix of white, pinewood, and terracotta tile. Breakfast was delicious and generous, with fresh fruit salad, muesli, bread rolls, eggs, and coffee. It really felt like heaven on earth.

What a comfortable place to stay, and such a good deal. The rooms have a lovely upscale Alpine look, and the host was so kind. He made breakfast early for me, lent me a tea kettle, and moved me to a room with a balcony. I couldn’t believe how inexpensive the reservation was. I’d stay here if you’re passing through Gerlos!
