Kinderhotel Kröller

The kids’ facilities are great, the rooms are nice, and the swimming pool is pleasantly warm. But for the price, the food and service fell short. Breakfast was very poor: not many fruits, and the quality was bad. You had to ask for bananas and they handed them out one at a time. When the bread ran out at 9 a.m., they didn’t replenish it, just said there was no more. At lunch, being able to take food onto the slopes was a nice option, even if it was mostly canteen restaurants. Dinner had the same problem with the starters buffet not being replenished often. The selection was limited, and it took a long time for waiters to clear plates, leaving dessert in front of an empty meal plate. I might accept this at a three-star hotel, but not a four-star one. Checkout was the worst part. We were refused lunch with our three young kids, despite having an 11-hour drive ahead, because we’d arrived during lunch on the first day. That’s very poor service, especially after paying over 6,000 euros for a week. I didn’t expect this from a place calling itself full inclusive and kid friendly. It left us feeling they cared more about making money from children than their wellbeing. This isn’t the best Kinder hotel in Austria. For a better experience, I’d recommend a Familux brand hotel. We tried Alpenrose and it was a dream.

We’re having a wonderful five-night family holiday, our first time at a Kinderhotel. The area is beautiful and has plenty of hiking to do with kids, including Kugelbahn. Our room is clean and comfortable, with two bedrooms for the parents and children. Housekeeping comes daily, but we can cancel it if we want. The food deserves a lot of credit. The buffet is delicious, nicely presented, and has plenty of choice for adults and children. The kids club staff are lovely and welcoming; they quickly learned the kids’ names, and the children are happy with them. There are lots of different activities each day. The playroom and playground are thoughtfully designed with a good range of things to do. A larger indoor play area for older kids is due to open soon. A couple of ideas: the kids club might benefit from an app for advance registration, which could help estimate numbers and staff needs. Staffing sometimes seems too low, and sometimes too high. It would also help to have someone regularly checking the toddler soft playroom. Some older kids ride the Bobby cars at speed, like F1 drivers, which feels dangerous for little toddlers. Maybe that will improve once the new playhall opens. The coffee by the pool is a nice touch, though disposable plastic cups seem at odds with reducing waste. The children have so much fun, and both parents can relax and enjoy some peace.

The decor is lovely, the kids have so many great activities, and the service is impeccable. This is our favorite hotel for a ski holiday. We’ll be back again!

We’ve brought our family to Hotel Kroeller several times, and every stay has been amazing. Highly recommend it, kids and adults will both have a great time.
