Campingplatz Torrenerhof

My ski trip here was horrible. I expected decent Wi-Fi, service, rooms, and staff, but none of it met even the standard of an ordinary hotel. I found a cockroach in my room, and one staff member pushed me. The tall kitchen worker with a bun also questioned me intensely and made me uncomfortable. The people had no manners and smelled of poo. It was disgraceful and needs to be sorted out. I'm not a weird guy, but I thought the kitchen worker seemed possessed. The lodge sits in a peaceful spot in the Alps, and the quiet, refreshing surroundings felt almost like a movie. That setting may be enough for some people to overlook the downsides, but I was disappointed by the room and breakfast. The TV didn't work, there were no basic restroom amenities, and the shower booth let water splash around. Ventilation was the biggest problem, since it didn't work properly. Breakfast was all cold, with no warm or filling options and no fresh fruit or vegetables.

I only ate at the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel. The Torrener Burger was tasty and a huge serving, enough to keep me full well into the evening. The homemade fries were great too, and I thought it was worth the price. 8/10.

A quiet bar and little nooks make the comfortable hotel a pleasant place to settle in. The traditional Bavarian-style building has wooden balconies on every floor, and the rooms have lovely views. Towels and in-room amenities were mediocre for the price, though prices seem typical for the area. My room had no safe, and they didn't provide shampoo. It's a family-run place, with three generations working there in different roles. That means reception may be unattended while everyone is busy elsewhere. The restaurant food was pretty good, but the menu was sparse. There's no laundry service, but washing machines and dryers are in the next building. The instructions aren't adequate, it's hard to work out payment for different load types, and the machines only take one-euro coins. The hotel is off the beaten path, far from large towns, which has its good and bad sides. A local waterfall is within walking distance. There's a small entrance fee for the waterfall site, but it's worth it. Camping, canyoning, and rafting are right across the street.
