PLAZA INN Graz Messe

I was at Plaza Inn Graz for a business trip. It’s in a handy spot near Messe Graz, and you can get there from the centrum on Tram 4 or 5 with just a short walk. The rooms and surrounding areas were clean and neat. Definitely recommend 👍

Please be careful booking here. I made a reservation on the hotel website and got their confirmation email right away. I immediately noticed I’d entered the wrong dates, November 10 instead of November 11, and asked them to change the check-in date by one day. They refused and kept all €125. Terrible customer service and a bad way to make money. Now, in your reply, you say it was a non-refundable rate. I understand that if I had wanted to cancel and get my money back. But I wasn’t asking to cancel or get a refund, only to move the date one day later. You suggested I pay the full price again and offered me one day of breakfast. Thanks, but I’m sure I can buy an omelet myself for less than €125.

We spent three nights here. The rooms were tidy, fresh, well maintained, and clean, and the breakfast was tasty, with fresh ingredients and a good variety, even if it wasn’t huge. All the staff were friendly, though one receptionist wasn’t especially helpful. The shower has NO DOOR, which might suit couples in double rooms, but what about everyone else? There’s also a mirror opposite the bathroom, which is just bad design. At least the toilet had an opaque door. We chose the hotel specifically because it was advertised as having secure parking, and we were travelling by car. Imagine our surprise when we were told there were no spaces and we’d need to find somewhere on the street, pay until 20:00, and hope our car wasn’t stolen or damaged. It was disappointing to have to hunt for a nearby space too. They should at least let guests reserve a spot and warn them that parking might already be full.

The receptionists were friendly, and the rooms were okay, if small. I was surprised there was no minibar or large wardrobe, and the toilet was open without a door. The hotel is quite remote and the area isn’t attractive, though watching the train pass might be interesting if the noise doesn’t bother you. Getting any rest was difficult. The walls are fairly thin, and although there are several floors, guests were all put in rooms next to each other. The cleaning staff started as early as 7 AM, making noise, arguing, and throwing things around. They seemed very frustrated and showed no consideration for other guests. It was my first stay at Plaza Hotel, and I found other hotels, both luxury and non-luxury, much better. I don’t recommend it.
