DAS EDELWEISS - Salzburg Mountain Resort

The property is beautiful and very well maintained, with lovely indoor and outdoor pools, and an excellent breakfast. But for what we paid, especially at a 2 Michelin Key property, I expected much better service and professionalism. Most of the staff were fine. One encounter with the concierge, though, left a very bad impression. I didn't catch his name, but he was the balding concierge on duty that afternoon, wearing a red Logitech headset. After a long-haul flight and an even longer drive from Munich, we were exhausted but looking forward to settling in and arranging ski lessons. The concierge didn't seem keen to help and sent us to the ski shop. It wasn't a short walk, and when we got there, the shop staff sent us right back to the concierge to make the booking. After all that back and forth, he contacted the ski school and quoted €320 per person for a 2-hour private lesson. I ski often in Europe and was shocked by the price. When we hesitated, he said, “normal in the whole of Europe” in a dismissive tone that felt like he was implying we couldn't afford it. That was extremely off-putting. We can afford it, we just don't like feeling overcharged or talked down to. We agreed to go ahead, and he said he'd email a booking link. It never came. In the end, we had to rush over to the ski school ourselves before it closed to secure the lesson. After such a long journey, being sent around aimlessly and made to feel uncomfortable was the last thing we expected. At a hotel with this price and reputation, we expect smooth service and no hint of discrimination. The property is beautiful, but that experience significantly affected our stay.

We were very happy with the breakfast, dinner, pool, and spa. I can't think of much more to ask for. The sauna infusion was a highlight too, thanks to the guy who clearly does that job with passion. This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in, especially with children. I managed to combine family time and work, and it suited both. Thanks to the dinner team, especially Elisabeth and Marina, whose experience really showed. Mohamed at the bar also stood out for his hospitality. He was funny, accommodating, and a very talented bartender. I did get the impression that the team's internal hierarchy held him back somewhat. As a business owner, I recognize those dynamics.

Everything was immaculate, and the hotel brings old-school style together with modern details really well. The staff were warm, helpful, and attentive. Our stay last summer was flawless, so we're already looking forward to coming back in summer 2026.

The spa at Das Edelweiss in Salzburg was one of the best I've experienced, and the mountain views from our elegant, cozy room were breathtaking. The food felt like fine dining at every meal. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere, service, and attention to detail were wonderful. Luxury with a warm feel. Can't wait to return!
