Hotel Bergzeit

We stayed four nights, and the four-course dinners were the best part of each evening. The menu changed daily, every course was beautifully presented, and they catered for a vegetarian preference. Adam was warm and attentive. Breakfast was fair, but nothing mind-blowing. The staff we met were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and simply and sleekly designed. We weren’t fans of the open shower: water splashed across the bathroom floor easily, and it could get a little cold while showering. Guests can use the pool at the neighboring Tauernhof hotel. We found it rather average, especially compared with the more impressive pools at other hotels nearby.

The waiter service was excellent, and the food was pretty good overall. The hotel and rooms were nice, though it felt quite pricey since drinks weren’t included. Our main issue was being overcharged twice. Drinks we hadn’t ordered were added to our tab, and our kids were charged as if they were older. I emailed to ask if the charges could be corrected, but never heard back. Check every receipt.

For the humans, there are big, clean rooms, top service, lovely wellness facilities and excellent dinners. And a shout-out to the “eiermeister” at breakfast. This was our best summer stay in the mountains with a dog. The hosts have thought of every detail, from reception and homemade dog treats and cake to towels, a dog spa and a dog menu. We’ll be back in winter.

Our 11-month-old dog had a wonderful time. She could cool off in the shallow stream beside the hotel, eat delicious homemade dog meals, and play with the other dogs in an enclosed garden. It was a great setting for her first hotel and restaurant stay. Staff were consistently polite and friendly, and our room and evening meals were perfect. We enjoyed a different menu each night so much that we extended our stay.
