The Salt’s apartments and hotel are in a lovely pedestrian area, with restaurants, shops, pharmacies, a Billa, and a Saturday morning farmer’s market nearby. The train station is less than a 10-minute walk away. We’ve stayed with The Salt twice in historic Hallein, Austria: two years ago at the Salt Residencies and this March at The Salt Townhouse. Both times, the service and hospitality were exceptional. The units have the feel of a mix between an Airbnb and a boutique hotel. The buildings are unique, over 500 years old, and beautifully restored, with striking architecture and interior design, plus comfortable contemporary furnishings. Beds are comfy, with top-tier linens, and the facilities are extremely well maintained. The staff are considerate and helpful. When my wife had a cold, the manager personally brought her beef broth with vegetables from their delightful little cafe next door. Thanks to Christoph, and especially the marvelous Waldraud.

We had a fantastical stay at The Salt Townhouse. The team sent all the information ahead of time and were proactive about keeping in touch. Our studio was sparkling clean, and it was very quiet, with hardly any street noise. We recommend it and are already looking forward to staying there again on our next trip to Austria.

We stayed two nights at The Salt Townhouse, and the experience was incredible. Our cosy room was super clean, and the whole hotel felt squeaky clean without being sterile. The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast at the adjoining bistro was plentiful and delicious. Two smiling young women welcomed us there and prepared tasty food and drinks. The hotel is in the scenic historic centre, just steps from the Silent Night museum.

The host was fantastic, easy to reach on WhatsApp and genuinely helpful throughout, which kept everything smooth and stress-free. Hallein is charming, with plenty to explore, and we’d definitely return. The house was spotless and thoughtfully set up for families. There were lots of toys, games, and essentials for kids, and everything we needed was already there, from household items to kitchenware. The appliances were new and worked perfectly, and the well-equipped kitchen made it easy to cook just like at home.
