Gasthof Bergfried

The staff's behavior is why I gave such a low rating, especially the lady who introduced herself as the hotel manager. In the situation we experienced, her communication was very rude and unprofessional, far from the friendly hospitality we usually associate with Austrian service. The hotel was clean and generally acceptable, though its style and equipment felt a bit old-fashioned. It's conveniently close to the city center and could be a reasonable choice for one night. Unfortunately, construction on the neighboring funicular railway caused significant noise early in the morning, making it hard to have a calm, relaxing start to the day.

We could park without any difficulty and then enjoy Hallstatt on foot. Having plenty of free parking spaces was a big advantage, especially since we arrived by car. The hotel is right in the heart of Hallstatt, and our mountain-view room had a balcony with truly breathtaking scenery. The staff were exceptionally friendly and gave us useful information and recommendations about the town, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

The receptionist was extremely kind and helpful, sharing lots of information about viewpoints, the best times to visit them, and restaurants. That was especially useful in winter, when we visited in the low season with lots of snow and many places closed. The B&B was very clean and well organized, with an exceptional location. Highly recommended.

The place was clean and felt like home, with great views of the Alps. We arrived a bit before check-in, and the receptionist, a very kind and helpful woman, arranged for us to get into our room early so we could enjoy Hallstatt to the fullest. We stayed one night and would highly recommend it. It won't disappoint.
