Hallstatt feels magical, especially after the day-trippers have gone, so I’d recommend spending at least one night. We had a wonderful stay in this charming hotel and really appreciated the traditional Austrian atmosphere and warm hospitality. Special thanks to Mrs. Joka, Duska, and Bettina for looking after us so well and making us a lovely breakfast.

The location was amazing, and the stay itself was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and the ladies work hard to keep the place clean and tidy. You can tell it’s family-run, though they speak very limited English, so tourists should be patient. The car park is VERY far away, about a 25-minute walk. Hallstatt is tiny, and you can see the whole town in around an hour and a half, so my advice is to make it a day visit. Please respect the quiet areas and let the locals have some peace. The quaint surroundings deserve to be appreciated.

From my room, the lake view was spectacular. The room was clean and well kept, and the hotel is only steps from the market square and ferry. I’d gladly stay again.

Everything else was great, but breakfast was the one letdown. We asked to take our coffee into the garden and the two ladies working there said no. They could have been more polite, and their manner came across as a bit aggressive.

The room had a nice hint of heritage while still being comfortable, and its quality was good. Service, such as at breakfast, could be better. I can understand the limits, though, since there aren’t many staff.
