We stayed here in winter with friends and found the surroundings wonderfully quiet. Schachnern is a tiny suburb outside Heiligenblut, away from the main traffic, even in summer when Grossglocknerstrasse is open. The hosts really took care of us, and we relaxed very well. We may return to Chalet Alpin in summer for hiking. The rental has two well-equipped apartments. They’re cozy as they are, but you can add to that feeling by using the wood stoves. A sauna is also available to book on request.

Chalet Smaragd is beautiful, set somewhere special and peaceful, with breathtaking panoramic mountain views and a view of the Grossglockner 🏔️. Everything we needed was there, and the place was spotlessly clean. Klaus is such a nice guy, a warm and helpful host. We were especially glad to be allowed to bring our little dog, Luna 🐾. The kids were especially taken with the waterfall, which we could even see from the balcony, and all the stops along the Grossglockner High Road. Our apartment felt warm and thoughtfully furnished, and the balcony view of the Grossglockner made the peaceful setting even better. A really relaxing, lovely holiday. Thank you, dear Hanna & Klaus, for having us!
