Haus Tauern Am See

We stayed in the spacious, brand new flat at the top, which had cozy decor. The hotel is in a lovely spot among the mountains, very close to the lake, and there’s a nice outdoor playground.

We had a great weekend playing in the snow with our family of five. They’re pet friendly, and the rooms were nice. The bed was pretty comfortable, the living area was pleasant, and having a kitchen was useful.

Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, always understanding and happy to chat or lend a hand. That stood out most during our stay. The room felt luxurious, with obvious care put into the layout and decor. The beds and couch were comfortable, and the kitchen had more than the usual amount of equipment for making meals. A small selection of tea bags would have been a nice addition to the coffee. Breakfast and bread-roll services are available for guests who don’t want to make their own, and there’s ski storage in the basement. The hotel was a comfortable place to return to after long days on the slopes, and a good base for exploring the area. It’s not right next to ski slopes, at least not the more interesting ones, but that made little difference in practice. All the major ski areas in the region were easy to reach by car, and there was ample parking. You could also take a train or bus from stations within walking distance if you didn’t mind carrying your gear a bit. The bus schedule was somewhat erratic. We had a great time and would certainly return if we got the chance.

Lovely view! The owners are really special, so friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night, but hope to come back soon.
