Alpen Karawanserai Time Design Hotel

The massage itself was good, but the whole experience felt uncomfortable and even a bit vulgar. We paid €85 for 50 minutes. My husband had the same experience as I did, and we both laughed at how awkward and unusual it was. The masseur's work ethic was poor: he was already in the room when I entered, I had to ask for disposable underwear, and I had to undress in front of him. The room was cluttered, and after the massage he stayed there while I got dressed. I had to adjust the towels myself. During the session, he rolled around on a chair, pushing himself along by holding the massage table. It looked ridiculous and unprofessional. There was also a confusing mismatch between the website and what I was told and charged. The Kerii Hotel website says guests can book massages at the neighboring Alpen-Karawanserai hotel. When I arrived, I couldn't find a receptionist and had to seek help before someone directed me to the booking place. I chose the “Arabic massage” listed on the Alpen-Karawanserai website, but the masseur said they didn't offer it and insisted on a “Sri Lankan massage” instead. I agreed, thinking the specialist might know which treatment was better. At payment, he charged €85 rather than the €67 shown online. When I pointed this out and showed him the official website, he said he knew nothing about it and that “these are my prices.” I eventually found the receptionist, who confirmed the €85 price despite the website listing a different one. She glanced at the online prices, said she'd never seen them before and didn't know what was written there. She didn't seem particularly interested and acted dismissively, saying I should wait for the manager the next day if I wanted to discuss it further. I felt deceived as a guest and was left with the impression of a very careless hotel system. My recommendation: don't rely on the information on their website.

A real gem in Austria! We loved it all. The location is very good, the rooms are comfortable, and they have all the details skiers need to dry their clothes. The breakfast selection was excellent, one of the best we've had. Dinner had a great menu too. I also loved the small touch of handmade soap at reception. Highly recommended!

The location is great and close to the slopes, but I wouldn't spend hundreds of euros to stay here. My friend and I stayed at Alpen-Karawanserai for four nights while supporting a friend in the World Champs Ski Race. The hotel advertises seven saunas and multiple pools, but good luck using any of them before 3:30-4pm. My friend got food poisoning from the included breakfast. There were 30+ staff helping themselves to breakfast, yet hotel staff were nowhere to be found 99% of the time. We tried to book dinner in the hotel restaurant, and the receptionist first said it was fully booked. When we asked again later, they said there was availability. We arrived to find we were the only ones dining there 😂. The ski storage room is easy for the public to access because it's next to the front door, so we kept our gear in our room. Staff were sometimes very unhelpful. When we asked a receptionist when the saunas and outdoor pool actually opened, she said she didn't have a clue. From memory, the outdoor pool opened around 8pm at night. The rooms were small, with two concrete pillars in the middle. Friends who stayed at the Alpen-Juwel right next door paid much less and had a much nicer stay. They sometimes blasted music from the downstairs bar until midnight, making this the weirdest hotel I've ever stayed in. They had no staff during their supposed peak winter season.

Two years ago I would have given it five stars, so it was sad and disappointing to return and find the service had got worse. The room used to come with a bathrobe, slippers and a bag for carrying things to the spa. This time, you had to get them from reception for €50. Reception was unattended every day for 4-5 hours, and when everyone wanted to go to the pool, no one could get a towel. Freshly squeezed juice was only served on weekends. During the week, it was a disgusting concentrate juice. Some of the most interesting saunas weren't working, there was no soap in the room, and some power outlets didn't work. I loved the place on my first visit, but now it felt like they weren't paying attention to the details you'd expect from a hotel with this many stars.
