Residenz Hochalm

For a hotel described as four-star with a spa, ski-in/ski-out access, and free parking, I found the price hard to justify based on what we got. Noise carried between rooms, and the family room felt cramped, with too little storage for a stay of several days. Parking was limited compared with the number of rooms. A few days before we arrived, we were told the free parking would be about 750 meters away. Guests are asked to leave their car keys at reception so staff can move cars between the hotel and the parking area, though walking there yourself is also possible. Twice during our stay, supplier trucks temporarily blocked access to the garage. The spa was just a sauna and relaxation areas, with no pool or jacuzzi, and was limited to guests aged 16 and over. The ski-in/ski-out route also calls for a good level of skiing ability, so it may not suit beginners or younger children.

The entrance and exit were tricky because of ice, even though being so close to the ski lift was very convenient. Inside, I had a lovely stay: the room or suite had plenty of closet space, the service was great, and I really enjoyed the restaurant. Dinner was nice, and breakfast stood out for its range and quality. A great hotel for a skiing holiday.

The food was delicious, and the kitchen’s Chef, Mantzis John, along with everyone else at the hotel, made the stay memorable. Our room was cosy, comfortable, and very clean. The location is excellent for skiing straight from the hotel, right by the lift, and you can buy ski passes at reception. We’ll definitely visit Residenz Hochalm again 🇦🇹

The Joker cards were a nice surprise. We knew they came with the stay, but didn’t understand what they meant beforehand. We were warmly welcomed, and the staff were lovely. Our room was very clean, the food was special, and the atmosphere was relaxing. We were lucky to have such good weather, too. I’d warmly recommend this hotel, and hope to return, since we didn’t get to try everything, like the tee sauna. Thanks for everything!
