Josef - Hotel for Friends

There’s a great range of food, and the hotel is conveniently close to the nearby ski slopes. The owners of Hotel Josef are lovely and clearly take pride in their work.

We were there for a school ski trip, and the hotel was set up really well for a group, with everything easy to find and well organized. The meals were delicious, plentiful, and varied enough for everyone, which was great after long days on the slopes. Staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived and kept being helpful throughout; nothing felt like too much trouble. Great food, great service, and a convenient base for the trip. I’d recommend it for a school or group ski holiday.

Greetings, my loyal Google friends! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Don’t worry, I’m back with a tale of fun and laughter. St Edmund’s School based its music tour at this accommodation, and what an experience it was. The mountain scenery around the buildings was stunning. The mountains rise above the roof and cast a dramatic, enveloping shadow over the hotel. We’d seen some worrying Google reviews while on the ship chartered to take us to the continent, so it was a relief to find that many seemed exaggerated. I’m glad to report we saw no cockroaches, brown flakes, blood on the sheets, mould on the food, or streptococcus. There was a clear lack of a safety rail on the second floor balcony, though, which made some of us less steady on our feet uneasy when we gathered there for a late night sing. There was plenty of football, and the hotel’s multicultural atmosphere made for an exciting England vs Germany game, which England won 7-1 (it’s coming home), as well as some thrilling badminton. Service was good, but the veggie food options were sadly limited and didn’t sit well with me. One colleague spent the time going “Chunder Chunder Chunder,” which was a bit unsavoury. The rooms were clean, if a little cramped for six. The bunk beds were long enough for my lanky, 6 foot 7 feminist body, which was a plus. We got clean towels at the start, but they weren’t washed again unless specially requested. That was a bit sub par and meant some of the linen was slightly dirty by the end of the week. Children were allowed to gamble! Hooray! Josef, the hotel’s namesake and owner, is a hearty, jovial chap who’s quick with a joke. I’d recommend the place for people of all ages, though perhaps not for a romantic trip. The bunk beds don’t exactly encourage romance, as some of the international relations students found out.
