The garden swing was such a relaxing place to sit, and the shared kitchen was stocked with food for everyone, which was lovely. We only stayed one night, but it made a perfect breather in the middle of our busy backpacking trip. The old house has a lot of character and made me feel right at home. Walking to and from the station was manageable, though that hill is steep, and there’s a lovely restaurant nearby. We didn’t meet the hosts since there’s no reception, which felt a little odd but also kind of cool. I’d happily come back.

Those big dining rooms make it easy to settle in for a long conversation, and they give the house a lovely feel. In the morning there’s fresh bread with jam or butter, plus milk and cornflakes or muesli, so I’m not sure the place can really say it has no meal service 😁. It’s close to the station, though not much else is nearby. The traditional house has plenty of charm, with spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, and enough outlets by the beds. I’d stay here again if I were in the area, perhaps for a hiking trip.

The price was great, €25 a day with breakfast included. Breakfast itself is basic, just bread, muesli, coffee, and tea. There’s also a nice outdoor area for a campfire and barbecue. It’s a great hostel in a very old building, so some noise carries.

A handy place to stop when cycling the Via Claudia Augusta. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the hostel felt very hospitable. The building has an authentic, atmospheric feel, and there’s a safe, dry place to store bikes.

The kitchen has the gear you need, plus a wood-fired oven and breakfast basics. Staff are easy to talk to and really helpful, and the place has a great atmosphere.
