Most of the stay was nice: the location is great, the room was OK, and breakfast was decent. The staff member who checked me in around 4 pm on February 20 was very polite. My last encounter was awful, though. At about 10:20 am on February 21, a woman in all red who seemed to be in charge of the bar kept repeating “Kaffee nicht mitnehmen” while I was holding a coffee and asking about checkout time. She seemed concerned I’d take it to my room. I told her not to speak to me in that tone, but she ignored that and just repeated the same phrase. It felt unprofessional and wasn’t a four-star hotel experience. I’d suggest she get training on how to treat customers. I reported it to reception, and they only said, “thank you for the info,” without any other response. Otherwise, Neue Post was a nice stay, but that final interaction was horrible.

Hotel Neue Post works well as a basic, mid-tier stay in a great location. If it were presented as a three-star hotel, I’d give it my highest rating. As a four-star, it falls short. The rooms are roomy and equipped at about a three-star level, but there’s no fridge, the wall-mounted hair dryer is basic, and coffee or tea in the room costs extra and has to be requested at reception. Toiletries are limited to a combined shampoo, body wash, and hand soap, with no conditioner or lotion. Breakfast is nice. The restaurant and bar seem better suited to before-dinner drinks in a lounge than dining, since they don’t appear to serve food. The bartender also handles check-in, and the same individual wine bottles cost more there than in the vending machine by the door. Don’t expect a bellman, valet, or craft cocktails. If you go in expecting a basic Best Western-type stay, you’ll likely be pleased. Four-star amenities, though, aren’t what you’ll find.

I booked this hotel through Booking.com for my family’s first Christmas holiday in Europe. The hotel kept rejecting my card, even though I had no trouble using it to book several other hotels in Austria and elsewhere in Europe. I tried other cards too, but those failed as well, and the booking was eventually cancelled over the supposed payment issue. The hotel has kept nearly €5,000, despite the cancellation not being our fault. When I raised it, they said the reservation was confirmed in their own private hotel system. I had no reason to trust a booking that wasn’t showing as confirmed on Booking.com. By then, after repeated cancellations and Christmas getting closer, I’d booked somewhere else because I was running out of options. They have refunded only half of the amount and say they can keep the rest because it was a “no cancellation policy” booking, even though I didn’t cancel it. I’ve tried to sort this out several times since September or October 2025. Booking.com support has also sent requests for the hotel to resolve the refund, but there’s been no update since December 2025. I’m still waiting for the rest of my money and will keep pursuing it wherever I can until this is put right.

It’s a quiet hotel in a good location, and I’d recommend it. Nothing was bad, though I expected a bit more from a four-star place. I usually don’t mind a room without air conditioning, but during such a hot summer it would have been nice. Parking was difficult to find, even in the nearby garage. You also have to buy a new ticket each day. That’s not the hotel’s fault, but it’s something I take into account. Maybe they could arrange a special rate and multi-day tickets for guests with the garage.
