Berghotel & Restaurant Bodenalpe

The food is fresh, tasty and inexpensive, especially the Kaiserschmarrn, and this spot is less crowded than the other places at the resort. The view is great too. On my visit the music was painfully loud, which really spoiled an otherwise lovely place. I came back the following year, in 2017, and the music was no longer unbearable. Thanks, I've updated my review.

The owners are welcoming, and you can buy a skipass on site. There are three saunas, two wet ones and a 100C sauna, plus an outdoor Jacuzzi. It's a little out of the way, but they run a shuttle in the morning and from 3 to 6 pm. The ski bus stop is a 10-minute walk away. The room was excellent.

A quiet, friendly place with good food and hardly ever too crowded. It's a great starting point for touring or telemark skiing in the Fimba valley, toward piz gronda or the Heidelberg hut. You can take the gondel or walk up, then follow the signs down to the hut; from there, there are more trips. Another route crosses the north side of the valley to Galthur, where you can catch the bus back to Ischgl. If you don't have the safety gear, go with a mountain guide. Booking through the ski school is easy, and you can ask for Stefan Ziegele.

For lunch, this is probably the best spot at Ischgl. The setting is beautiful and there are fewer people, so it feels more like being out in the mountains than at the busier huts. The food wasn't as good, though.
