The location was the one good thing about this hotel. As someone who works in hospitality, I know how hard staff work for low pay, so I usually hesitate to leave a negative review. But there were too many problems, and the way they were handled ruined my stay in Ischgl. I won’t come back. The rooms were extremely small. My friend didn’t have a hairdryer, her safe didn’t work, and we were given just one towel with no spares at reception. We were told towels were only handed out at 1 PM or 5 PM during housekeeping hours. She had to leave her valuables at the front office and borrow my hairdryer. The manager insisted a hairdryer had been delivered, but it hadn’t. Doors wouldn’t shut unless we slammed them. Housekeeping came into my room twice without knocking, once before checkout while I wasn’t fully dressed. On checkout day I woke late, hurried to pack, and went to retrieve my things from the safe. While I was away, housekeeping entered and took my belongings without my permission. My friend didn’t have a reservation at the hotel and left her bag in my room while waiting to check into another hotel. She also joined us for drinks one night and napped in my bed. Staff got upset and kept pressing us to register her, and the hotel added a $100 extra guest fee to my folio without telling me. Even after she checked in elsewhere, staff confronted us about it and scolded us in front of other guests when we came for dinner. The fee was eventually waived reluctantly. If they’d explained a strict policy politely, I would have accepted the charge. The manager was defensive when I raised these concerns and argued instead of listening. One front office employee misheard me, then rudely said, “I’m not aggressive.” I hadn’t said anything about him. Separately, at the bar, staff flirted with me and suggested taking me home. When I complained about rude staff, the manager sarcastically replied, “Well you didn’t think they were rude when you were enjoying yourself with the staff the other night at the bar.” It felt insulting, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. Dinner was nowhere near Michelin quality. I couldn’t finish my poorly prepared meal. The pizza we had at the bar came unsliced and was bland; the beef tartare tasted odd, so we chose carpaccio instead. Booking dinner for three was also difficult. I had to repeat the request because staff weren’t communicating, and they kept saying they couldn’t seat three. Then they blamed us for their own oversight. *Update*: After my first review, staff pulled CCTV footage of me and emailed it to intimidate me. I believe this seriously violated my privacy and Austrian data protection laws. They have continued to harass me and my friends. We also called hours ahead to cancel a restaurant booking after checking out and were told there would be no penalty, but I was still charged over $452 usd for a reservation I never made. Verbal agreements are legally binding in Austria. This is my genuine experience, and I stand by my comments and the evidence supporting them. Avoid this place!

We stayed at Yscla Hotel, where STÜVA is located, and had a very disappointing dispute over a restaurant booking. We had reserved for three and called on the same day to say we couldn’t come. Nobody mentioned a cancellation fee or policy when we booked or when we called. That evening, we were told the charge was EUR 120 per person. When we objected, it was immediately cut to EUR 60 per person, which made the basis for the fee hard to understand. We had to pay before we could check out. The written policy arrived two days later, and it didn’t match what we’d been told verbally: we were told there was a 24-hour rule, while the document said 7 days, even though we’d booked less than 24 hours in advance. We wrote to the hotel to try to settle this amicably and got no reply. In its public response, the hotel called this a no-show and said a fixed no-show policy applied. That’s not accurate from our perspective. We called to say we couldn’t attend and were not told there would be a charge. The policy was only shared afterward, and we still haven’t been offered a refund. Guests should ask for cancellation terms in writing before booking. The lack of transparency and professionalism was not what we expected from a hotel of this category.

The meals were a real highlight for us at Yscla Hotel. Breakfast had a lavish spread, dinners were beautifully put together, and even the après-ski treats were lovely. The fresh, high-quality ingredients and creative dishes made every meal a pleasure. We also loved the warm welcome in Ischgl. The staff were attentive, kind, and thoughtful throughout, and the rooms were beautifully designed with breathtaking Alpine views. The whole hotel felt comfortable and elegant. We’d love to come back :)

Way too much fish, and the food was overrated. Our group felt unwell after eating at this posh restaurant. Sorry, can’t recommend it.

The spa was a great way to wind down after a hard day skiing. Men and women share it, so bring swimwear out of respect. It was quiet when we went, and a few times we had the place to ourselves. There are two saunas, two steam baths, and a room with two infra-heated chairs. We spent a week in Ischgl with our daughter and all loved the hotel. The staff were friendly and keen to help, and the basics were all there for the price: comfortable beds, good cleaning, and a small but nice bar. Dinner was a preset seven-course gourmet menu, including a salad and cheese buffet, so it worked out to five courses in practice. Three-course alternatives were included too, which let us build a meal of our own choice. The chefs did a wonderful job with the Austrian cuisine, and everything was well cooked, nicely presented, and full of flavor. Portions were balanced overall, though the main course tended to be too large. Drinks cost extra. Each day there was a new wine suggestion for every course, served by the glass for 8-22 €. The wine cellar had lots of “local” options, averaging perhaps 100 €. They’d keep a bottle for the next dinner if you had wine left, a nice gesture. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! 😀
