Hotel Victoria Kaprun

The staff were very friendly and always ready to help, and I liked the spa, which was only busy on a few occasions. With the all-inclusive option, you’ll love it. I’ll consider coming back!

Very friendly staff, very clean rooms and a nice spa area. The food was amazing, exceptionally tasty and different each day. The bus stop is a one-minute walk away, and the town centre is a 15-minute walk. It would be nice to have a cosy lounge with a fireplace to make the place feel more authentic.

The bathroom’s heated floor was something I loved, and the personnel were friendly. But this place was below average and definitely not a four-star hotel. The food was overcooked and very plain, with almost no spices. Drinks came from an automated machine and were so diluted you could barely taste anything. The coffee was nice, the cafeteria’s highlight. Cleaning was very superficial. Our bedsheets had a hole in a clearly visible spot and weren’t changed during our six-night stay. The double bed was two beds pushed together, with a clear gap between them. They didn’t vacuum during our stay either. By the last couple of days there was so much dust and sand that I had to wipe my feet before getting into bed. The parking was poorly managed. When we booked, it said parking was free. On arrival, they asked us to pay €8 a day for open-air parking, even though a flyer they gave us said it cost €5 a day in a garage or €3 a day outdoors. We argued about the mismatch and ended up paying nothing, but that’s not how they should handle things.

The hotel is about 700 metres high, but even in warmer weather the lower pistes were well maintained, which was great for getting a feel for skiing. The higher slopes and glacier pistes were always fresh. Kaprun showed us all its options at their best. The local authority and businesses also seem to know how to manage the big tourist ski crowds. The hotel is close to the two best lifts, just a few minutes by shuttle bus, and we never waited more than a few minutes. We came to Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn for the first time with friends and family, and stayed at Hotel Victoria during ski season in February. The team gave their best every minute. The staff seemed like the kind of professionals every four-star hotel wants. Our room, balcony, bed and bath were perfect. Breakfast, dinners and snacks were fresh, nicely prepared, and looked after by so many lovely staff. I think the secret must be management understanding the need to invest in the best, especially when such great staff are hard to find. We arrived early but were warmly invited to join breakfast and leave our luggage. When we forgot a hat and scarf at departure, the hotel carefully forwarded them home. Every day after skiing, we were welcomed warmly with fresh snacks and drinks. I’ve stayed in many international business hotels rated four stars, but this place makes four-star family hospitality look easy. It was, and is, an impressive performance.
