Apartment Schullehrer

The apartment was nice, and the hostess was friendly. The problem was that the man of the house has a regular job and also farms as a hobby, so he milked his cows in the barn around 5:15 every morning. The noise woke us and we had to get out of bed each day. Definitely not recommended for winter sports.

The area around Kauns, with its mountains and lakes, made for a fantastic relaxing summer holiday. We felt very welcome thanks to the Austrian hospitality and our friendly hosts, who gave us great ideas for things to do. The well-maintained "Schullehrer" apartment had everything we needed, and we felt very comfortable there. Highly recommended! :-)

There are lovely mountain views from the balcony, and it's easy to reach hiking trails in the unspoilt Kaunertal valley, full of alpine flowers and wildlife. The Inn Valley and its excellent cycling path are close by, though it's downhill. A car is useful for getting to restaurants and shops in the neighboring village, as well as to places with gondolas and great children's playgrounds, including Fendels, Fiss-Ladis and Nauders. At the end of the Kaunertal valley, the glacier is the highlight, and you can actually touch it. The holiday apartment is well equipped, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. Families have lots to do: a trampoline, play equipment and places to sit in the garden, plus toys, books and a foosball table for rainy days. Children can help milk the 10 cows in the evenings, though in summer the cows are up on alpine pastures. There are rabbits too. A nice spot to watch village life.

It's a 15-minute walk to the Ladis valley station, and there's a ski bus to other ski areas. The hosts were very friendly, and the holiday apartment was really nice and excellent value. Fresh milk is available to buy in summer and autumn.
