Hotel Unter den Linden

When my wife suddenly fell ill, we had to cancel our trip and our booking at Hotel unter Den Linden. I explained what had happened and asked if they could waive the cancellation charge or let us use the payment toward a future stay. They declined both and charged the full amount. I understand that hotels have cancellation rules and that travel insurance matters, and I respect that the hotel followed its stated policy. Still, I had hoped for more understanding around a genuine health problem. Other places we stayed during the same journey responded with empathy, either dropping the fee or giving us credit. That contrast was disappointing after all the careful planning we'd put into the long weekend. I've paid the full fee, but the way this was handled doesn't feel like the hospitality or customer care that would bring me back. I wouldn't stay here again. Fellow travelers should make sure they're fully insured, since flexibility in unforeseen situations isn't something I'd expect here.
