Hotel Gisela

The breakfast is tasty and plentiful, with typical Südtirolisch fare, and I’d happily book here again. Hotel gisela has been around since 1877 and sits beside both the train and bus stations, yet it stays quiet. Check-in was easy, card payment worked, and there are parking spaces right outside. The business centre and restaurants are about a kilometre away. Be sure to get your Kufsteinerland ticket from the hotel, since it includes bus rides and many free or half-price admissions. Crossing the Inn river gives you lovely photo spots, with the mountains rising on either side, especially beautiful under winter snow. Just past the first row of riverside buildings on the right is a hidden alley with charming decorations. Continue through it to visit the composer of the Kufsteiner song. On the left, an archway takes you back into the past. You can also follow the descent and, opposite the Spar on the left, take the steps up to the Kustein Burg and its forttess. Walk up or take the funicular. Visit St Vitus church and the smaller chapel behind it too. Bus nr 2 goes to the Riedel Glass factory, musem and shop. I took the tour, and the guide was really good. And don't miss the ski slope lifts, whether you ski or just want to enjoy the mountain views.

Everything in town was an easy walk, from the city centre to the main sights, and the train station is right nearby. Our spotless room had an extremely comfortable bed, and the staff went out of their way to help with everything we needed. Hotel Gisela was an excellent base. If you're debating a visit to Kufstein, I'd put it on your list.

We booked an apartment here in December, and there was plenty of room for five or six people. The room and the general setup were very good. It's next to Kufstein Railway station, which made getting around really convenient.

Dating back to 1877, this is a real classic. The rooms are a little old, but practical and good value. Breakfast had a nice variety, with simple food and excellent quality. The service was kind, and since we couldn't use the street parking in front, they offered us a place in the garage. We'd definitely return.
