Goldener Löwe

We had dinner, used the sauna, and spent the night in a newly renovated room, and loved it. Staff were kind at check-in and gave us ideas for things to do around town. The sauna is free, which was a lovely surprise. Dinner cost 15 euros less than our meal in Vienna and was twice as good. Even the little details felt considered, like switches on the floor for the lamps and the hotel logo engraved into the bathroom wall. The big and small touches really show. I'd stay here.

The room was decent, though a bit worn, and the bathroom had a slightly moldy smell. Leaving the door open for five minutes took care of it, so it wasn't a serious issue. We ate at the restaurant after arriving for the late menu; it was OK and tasted good. The staff were friendly, and the welcome felt warm. I'd stay here again.

The portions were really big, and we all enjoyed the meal. The fish was cooked well, the dessert was delicious, and the traditional dishes were very good. It gets pretty crowded in the evening, so it's better to reserve, especially for a larger group. We'd go back for dinner.

I spent a few summer days here, and the suites at Villa Maria are the best you can get in Kufstein. The rooms are spacious and elegant, great for a couple's trip. The food was amazing too: both the Knödel and Schnitzel were outstanding. Give it a try next time you're in Tyrol.
