The staff were friendly, quick, and polite, and the modern spa was easily my favorite part. We spent a lot of time among the saunas and relaxing swings, with lovely views, though the major construction around the hotel right now does take away from them. Our room was spacious, with a nice balcony, a big bathtub and bathroom, a good TV and bed. The event sauna, free parking, and varied breakfast were other highlights. The five-course dinner was only okay, both in taste and atmosphere, and the dining room felt too old-fashioned for us. The hotel could use an interior designer and a dining room renovation. There was old-fashioned carpet throughout, and the stay felt overpriced. There were a couple of disappointing moments. The pool and whirlpool were quite cold, so we wanted a hot bath, but our room had no hot water because the building’s boiler had apparently broken. They got the in-house janitor on it right away after we reported it, but we didn’t have hot water until after 9 p.m. on our first day. I would have appreciated some compensation, but none was offered. Even so, the spa, friendly staff, and overall experience were good enough that I’m giving four stars. The location is also great for a day hike between wellness sessions.

We keep coming back to this lovely hotel in Tirol, whether for winter skiing or summer hikes and time to relax. It’s particularly good for couples of any age, and the event sauna really sets it apart. Each evening, sauna master Mark, Austrian champion in 2022, puts on amazing shows that make sweating feel like a special occasion. The hotel is right by the lift to one of Austria’s best ski areas. If you’re not skiing, there are guided snowshoe outings and alpaca walks, with the lovely local guide Gordana looking after guests. There’s plenty more to praise, but returning year after year says a lot.

The saunas and pools are really good, and the hotel itself is lovely, with excellent service and food. It’s right beside the ski lift, though getting onto it isn’t quite ski in, ski out. In warmer conditions especially, it’s about a three-minute walk.

After a day skiing, the wonderful wellness area was perfect for relaxing. The large sauna had lovely essential oil infusions, and in the biosauna, fresh pine and herbs like lavender and rosemary made it feel like a sunny day in the mountains. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the location was great. Staff were super friendly, and both the bar and kitchen service were excellent. We had a fantastic stay at Alpen Herz and hope to come back soon.
