Villa Angelina

We came back for our second stay this year and found everything spotless again. The service was very friendly, and the owner personally takes care of the lovely garden in the courtyard and the exceptionally well-kept rooms. Breakfast was delicious too.

We really enjoyed our stay. It's a distinctive, stylish place with a wonderful atmosphere, and the breakfast was delicious and generous.

I've gone back and forth for a long time about writing this. It's a very personal experience and may only matter to a few people, but I still think about it, and it affected us deeply. I feel it matters to share it. We were a couple traveling with our sons, who were 14 and 16, and had booked through Booking.com. The owner called to say they didn't really want children staying there. I thought that was fair, thanked him for telling me, and said I'd book somewhere else. Then he asked if the boys were well-behaved, which they were, and whether they'd be staying alone in the villa, which they wouldn't. He said it would be fine after all. I should have listened to my first instinct and declined. The villa itself is amazing. We were impressed by the beautiful garden and courtyard, the tasteful decor, and especially the interior, which is full of antiques that have clearly been collected with care. Langenzersdorf is a charming village with wine taverns, and it's close to Vienna with good transport connections. Our two rooms were lovely and shared an anteroom with a door leading to the courtyard. The next morning, breakfast looked extraordinary, and the food was all exquisite. Then the owner came into the breakfast room with a stony expression and said, as best I can remember, that we had left things in the anteroom, drawn its curtains, and locked it. Her husband had immediately said having children there wasn't a good idea, and we could leave now. We'd thought the anteroom was for our use because only our two rooms opened onto it, and we'd left a few things there, such as water bottles. We had also drawn the curtains and locked the door. If we'd known we weren't supposed to do those things, we wouldn't have. If we'd simply been told the next day that we couldn't use the anteroom, that would have been completely fine. Being told to leave with no warning, though, left me feeling more humiliated than I can remember, and everyone in our family felt the same. What hurt most was the comment about the children. They had nothing to do with what we'd done, and the owner was the one who had convinced me to go ahead with the booking. It's hard to leave such a negative review when the villa and its surroundings are so beautiful, and the owners have clearly put so much care and passion into the house. But we were, and I don't want to overstate it, traumatized by what happened. It ruined our holiday.

It felt like a dream, and I couldn't get enough of all the beauty around me. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Such a fantastic experience!
