Ferienwohnung in der Sonnenstadt Lienz

We booked an apartment on the ground floor with a terrace, but the day before arrival, Booking sent a message saying it was on the second floor. I replied that we'd booked the ground-floor place with a terrace and asked for a call, then sent a WhatsApp and called too. No answer. We drove there the next day, and what I saw was a shock. It wasn't what we'd booked, with no balcony or terrace. I called the landlord, waited a long time without hearing back, then called Booking. They said they'd look into it. About ten minutes later the landlord called. I asked why she hadn't replied, and she said she was on holiday, didn't answer the phone, and doesn't respond on WhatsApp. I explained what had happened. She said none of the apartments had private balconies, and any balcony had to be shared with others. She also said my apartment was already occupied and that I hadn't booked one with a terrace anyway. I'd sent her all the paperwork the day before and asked her to check it. After a long back and forth, she finally said she'd cancel the apartment if I found somewhere else, since I was saying it wasn't what I'd reserved. I did, and booked a lovely house on the outskirts of Lienz. What annoys me most is that there are so many photos on various sites, but none shows a specific apartment. The dining table in the apartment we'd been meant to get was sticky, and its veneer was already peeling. The chairs had seen better days too.

The apartment was spacious, clean, well maintained, and well organized, with good network connections. The local contact person was very friendly. We'll recommend it and will definitely come back.
