We were a little disappointed when we first arrived. The hotel is quite dim, and after a while the lighting started to bother us. With no air conditioning, the rooms can get stuffy quickly if you keep the windows and doors closed. We also had a smoking neighbor, and the smoke drifted into our room with nowhere to go. The service, though, was great, and there’s plenty for kids to do. We spent most days out of the room.

Nicole at reception made our stay at Hotel Eder and in Maria Alm especially memorable. From our booking call through to our goodbye, she was attentive and thoughtful. Her colleagues were great too, from the spa massages to the bar, dinner, and breakfast. The service team were cheerful and made us feel welcome before we even arrived, and they helped us plan things nearby and put together a hotel and spa package. For hiking, exploring, relaxing, and a bit of pampering, I’d definitely recommend it. We stayed in the “annex,” which is less than a five-second walk between buildings, with beautiful scenery to look at along the way. I’d seen complaints about the rooms, annex, noise, spa, and service, but found them dramatic, and at least one fully misleading. The village is lively, and you can hear the neighboring church bells, but there’s still plenty of opportunity to relax and recharge.

We’d stopped by for afternoon drinks a few times during our holiday, then came back for dinner. The food was good and the staff were friendly and professional, always happy to help. A thunderstorm hit that evening, with wind and sideways rain blowing into the covered outdoor seating, so they brought four or five tables inside even though the restaurant was already busy. Then the power went out. It came back fairly quickly and added a bit of excitement, probably more for us than for the staff. A very pleasant visit. I’d recommend it for a meal or late afternoon drink, though dinner gets busy, so it’s best to book ahead.

We loved our stay and would absolutely come back. There are several saunas and places to relax in the spa, and the pool is small but nice for a quiet dip. Breakfast had lots to choose from, and over four evenings we tried the à la carte menu. Every meal was delicious, came quickly, and was excellent quality. The staff were so friendly, and the hotel has great facilities. It’s right by the natrubahn lift for the mountain, with plenty of other hiking trails nearby.
