Schlosspark Mauerbach

The chef personally came out to talk through our dietary requirements, which was a first for us and made us feel that those needs were taken seriously. We spent two nights on the spa package, and the spa was clean with enough room for everyone. The food was fresh, tasty, and local, while our modern, well-equipped room was very clean. Staff were professional and helpful with whatever we needed. A fantastic experience, five stars!

Breakfast was unpleasant, with bugs and flies around the food, and no staff seemed to take the initiative to deal with it. Dinner was better thanks to two especially friendly and attentive waiters, who were a real bright spot. We returned to Schlosspark in August 2023 after several earlier visits, but this time felt like a letdown. No one even smiled when we arrived, which made the welcome feel cold. On a sweltering night around 28 degrees Celsius, the hotel also switched off the air conditioning, leaving us uncomfortable. Management and the general atmosphere seemed to have gone downhill since our last stay. We may look at other adult-only hotels next time. I can't recommend it with this management.

George deserves a special thank you for making dinner feel relaxed and enjoyable, and the rest of the dinner service was very good too. The food impressed us, from the huge breakfast spread to the fruit, smoothies, cakes, and other treats at the Spa bistro. Vegetarian options could perhaps be better, though we expected that coming to Austria. I tried the gym and missed having a treadmill, but there are lovely woods nearby for running. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, the pool area is amazing, and at first the spa facilities seemed endless. The staff were very friendly. I've never felt so relaxed, and couldn't recommend the place more.

We had a tasty selection of meals, with many ingredients coming from local farms and suppliers. My room had big windows with a beautiful view, plus a separate toilet and bathroom with both a bathtub and shower. Every room is air-conditioned. The staff were friendly and efficient, and I'd visit again for a longer stay. The hotel is well maintained, near Vienna yet surrounded by the Wienerwald. It has a small park of its own, so every room looks onto the park and nights were quiet. Getting there was easy by car or public transport, with the 450 bus about a five-minute walk away. A complimentary set of sauna towels, slippers, and mineral water was provided. The saunas are open from 10 in the morning until 10 at night.
