Garni Obermair

We stayed in room 8 at The Obermair, a traditional Austrian bed and breakfast garni with an indoor pool and sauna/steam room. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, with a big balcony and fridge. The bathroom was very large and had both a bath and shower. Everything was spotlessly clean, warm, and had plenty of storage. It was quiet too, apart from a few loud drunk people coming back next door in the early hours one night. Breakfast was plentiful, and the fresh fruit and berries were lovely. The owners were welcoming and accommodating. I tried the pool and spa one evening, but it was half term week and full of kids, so I didn’t go again, which was a shame. This place deserves 10/10.

We’ve just come back from a week here, and honestly couldn’t praise the place enough. It made a great holiday even better. There are lots of places to eat within a few minutes’ walk, three small supermarkets close by, and a garage next door. The bus stops right outside every 15 minutes and takes just a couple of minutes to reach the main lift. Walking back from the mountain takes about 5-10 minutes if you don’t want to wait for a bus. The hotel was clean throughout, and the staff were excellent and all lovely. I believe it’s family run. It’s a bed and breakfast with a delightful, wide-ranging morning spread: eggs and bacon, fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, bread, plenty of drinks, two coffee machines, filtered coffee, and fresh juice. There’s no limit on what you can have from 7am to 10am. Coffee is charged during the day, but free at breakfast. The pool was a good temperature and usually empty when we got back from the slopes. There are also two saunas and a steam room, none of which were crowded. The boot room was great, with heated boot lockers.

I spent a week skiing here over Christmas. The ski bus collects right at the door, which makes the location very convenient. After a day on the slopes, the spa was lovely for unwinding and recovering, and breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and worked hard to make guests’ stays as positive as possible.

After a full day on the slopes, it was great to relax in the warm pool and saunas. The hotel’s location also works really well, with a ski bus right outside, and just a short stroll to the town centre and lifts. The staff are friendly, everything is clean, and breakfast is fantastic. Nothing seems to be a problem for them, and they don’t skimp on quality for guests. Everything here feels top quality.
