Hotel Stoanerhof

We had a lovely stay in this authentic Austrian chalet beneath the snow-capped hills in mayerhofen. It's beautifully kept, clean, and fits its surroundings well. My only thought is that a lounge would make it more comfortable and social, and could bring in more bar takings too.

We enjoyed our stay. The meals were good, with plenty of vino, and the staff were very friendly and gave great service. The location is a little out of town, which suited us but may not suit everyone. We had room 19 on the ground floor opposite reception, so it was a bit noisy. The room itself was fine but had absolutely no view. The lower rack of boot warmers barely got warm enough.

Staying here for Snowbombing was a terrible idea. It's miles from anywhere apart from a ski lift, and that costs 45 euro. The food was terrible and the staff were worse, though to be fair, the hotel was being operated by ski world. My review is entirely about their behavior and performance. I did meet the hotel owners, who were very, very pleasant. I'd like to return when skiworld aren't around.

Room 102 was probably the best of them all, and the views were lovely. The hotel is a quaint, pretty little Austrian place, even in its dated state. It's right near the ahorn mountain lift and about a ten-minute walk to town. I stayed during the SNOWBOMBING week with the skiworld company, though, and they take over the hotel. There was no towel change, tidying, or cleaning during our stay. Alice was a credit to the company, and John, the head chef, was good. The rep was an extremely terrible representative for the company. I don't know how the hotel is run the rest of the year, but it wouldn't take much to beat what we experienced.
