Pension Regina

The owner made the stay unpleasant. She came across as extremely unfriendly, as if running the guesthouse were a punishment, and wouldn't let guests use the shared area in the evening after 6 p.m. The building is old but clean, and the rooms are small. Breakfast was poor, with very little choice. It runs from 7:30 to 9:00, yet there were no eggs by 8.

The only small positives were clean rooms and fairly comfortable beds. The location is on the outskirts of Mayrhofen, with a ski bus stop 350 meters away. Breakfast was a joke: the selection was very limited, there wasn't enough food for everyone, there were almost no vegetables, and the milk for our coffee wasn't fresh. The rooms were poorly equipped too. The owner was rude and made the stay unpleasant. Our group couldn't spend time together; she rudely kicked us out of the lobby when we were sitting there playing card games. Pension Regina is overpriced, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The experience could ruin someone's vacation.

A tidy, clean single room with its own bathroom and a balcony. The shower had a strong flow and properly hot water. Getting to the Penken lift is a bit of a hike, though the ski bus stop is only a couple of minutes away. The Greenline bus to the Hintertux glacier is about a five-minute walk.

On our first morning, we were asked whether we'd like tea or coffee. I asked for tea for my girlfriend and me, but we got one teabag in the pot and had to ask for another. Breakfast was ridiculous, with a miserable, very limited selection. I was also asked to pay three days before departure, then reminded every day. The woman in charge was the most hostile and unwelcoming person I've encountered in hospitality. Don't be fooled by the Wi-Fi listing: using it costs 10 euro per device. The worst moment was when my girlfriend came back early from skiing because she felt unwell. She had no room key, so she rang the bell for several minutes and waited longer at the entrance. The same woman asked what she wanted. When my girlfriend asked her to open the room, she said she didn't have the keys and only offered to let her into the ski room to leave her snowboard. She didn't let her into the hotel.
