Landhotel Gut Sonnberghof

It’s a nice place, but for what you pay, the value has gone down. The restaurant is good, the bar looks modern and has plenty of drinks, and the cows are really cute to watch. The spa is nice overall and the gym is well equipped, though the yoga room sat empty the whole time. It feels like wasted space when it stays dark all day. Maybe they could offer other classes there. Some of the staff weren’t warm or welcoming, and at times they seemed cold and disengaged. That’s a big drawback for a mountain wellness retreat. The breakfast was okay, but felt like little thought had gone into it. I’ve had breakfasts with more choice and creativity. They serve raw milk, and possibly use it in the coffee machines too. That seems risky, especially for pregnant women and others. At this price, I’d expect regular milk as well as raw and oat milk. The afternoon food was nice but not something I’d pay for myself, and while dinner changed, it wasn’t very exciting. The quality was good, just not especially distinctive. The electric chargers for BEVs are from Salzburg AG, but cost much more than Salzburg AG’s usual rates. Regular cars also kept blocking them, and no one seemed to care. They’ve changed the spa checkout policy too, charging if you want to stay past 2pm. That wasn’t the rule when we booked, and it made the hotel seem keen to get every last Euro. They also wanted to charge us 5€ per bath robe for using the spa after checkout because we’d left our robes in the room. They should tell guests to bring them along when checking out. One older woman kept opening all the windows in the relaxation room while it was freezing outside. If she wanted to be cold, she could have gone outside instead of bothering everyone in the room. When we asked reception for help, the team showed poor customer service again and didn’t think they needed to step in. It started well, but ended up disappointing. I’ve stayed at Gut Sonnberghof twice now, and I’m sure I’ll be back. It’s in a great spot among trees and pastures, yet still close to lots of hiking areas. The food is great and the relaxation area is lovely, though it gets crowded when people come back from their trips. I’d have liked the spa to stay open a bit longer, but otherwise everything was perfect again.

We had a wonderful time at the Riedlsberger family hotel in the heart of the High Tauern, and can’t wait to return. The natural setting made for a relaxing, inspiring break, and the wellness area was a peaceful place to unwind after time in the mountains. The rooms were stylish and comfortable, with clever little touches. Everyone on staff was friendly, helpful, and greeted us with genuine smiles that made us feel at home. The meals were a delight, made with fresh local ingredients and full of flavor. It was a lovely mix of welcoming service, thoughtful design, nature, and great food.

I came for a yoga retreat and was completely amazed by the hotel. The location, food, surroundings, cleanliness, and facilities were all fabulous, and it felt very safe. The staff were excellent, especially Nicholas, who seems to care for the hotel as much as he does his own home. Thanks to everyone for a great experience.
