Gasthof Pension Aschlandhof

Update 2024: We came back for a third time because we like the place and its surroundings. Dinner was lovely, the beer was good, and breakfast was very nice. Everyone working at the hotel was lovely too. We had room 7 again. The renovation made it feel more spacious, with new furniture and a new bed, but the mattress already has a dip where you sink in. They really should add a good, heavy topper. My husband slept fine, but I'm a very difficult sleeper and ended up having another very bad night. This was our second overnight at Aschlandhof, stopping on the way to Italy. The first time, I remember a small room, a really bad bed, noisy rooms, and not much light coming in, though the people were very friendly and the setting felt like something from a movie. When booking this time I asked for a bigger room, but none was available. On arrival I realized we had room 7 again, the same one from, I guess, two years earlier, and I was cursing. Seeing it renovated made me happy. We came back partly because the food is so nice, and after dinner and a beer we went upstairs to shower and sleep. The new bed still wasn't right for me because the mattress had a hollow worn in by people who slept there before.

Even though this B&B is tucked away in the mountain hills, there's plenty to do: hiking, biking, sightseeing, or just enjoying the view. The owners and staff were kind, friendly, and welcoming. It's very pet friendly, with large rooms or apartments, and I definitely want to stay again. Highly recommend!!!!

The setting is surrounded by amazing nature and feels quieter than the usual tourist spots. The hotel itself is lovely to look at, and the staff are very nice. We had a great breakfast and a fantastic dinner. I'd definitely recommend it if you're travelling nearby.

We'd love to come back. The apartment was clean, everyone on staff was friendly and made us feel welcome, and the food was super. Speaking English was no problem. It was quiet and off the beaten path, with breathtaking views, yet you could do anything you might think of within 20 mins. Everything was amazing!
