Berghof Mitterberg

They made us feel very welcome.

Our children were especially welcomed, and the hosts were flexible with our special requests at dinner. We were grateful for how accommodating they were, and for finding us a room at short notice even though the hotel was full with their whole family. The location and scenery are stunning, and the hotel itself is lovely. Breakfast was generous, with eggs, scrambled eggs, meatloaf, fresh fruit and vegetables, breads and rolls, yogurt, muesli including gluten-free choices, cakes, spreads, cheese, and cold cuts. There were several teas, juices, and coffees too. The gluten-free options were essential for our older daughter. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return for our next vacation. Thank you so much.

The wellness facilities cover the basics well, with two saunas, a pool, a relaxation space, and a gym. Staff were attentive and very friendly. It's a quiet, fairly secluded small hotel a few minutes from Gröbming, and a useful starting point for hikes and other activities between Schladming and Aussee. The property is clean and looked after, though the style feels a little dated. Breakfast could be better. It's good value for the money.

We'd read some concerning reviews about the owners, staff, and the place as a whole, so we weren't sure what to expect. Rita and Thomas gave us a friendly welcome, and the kitchen-and-service all-rounder was especially attentive and deserves credit. It's a traditional place, with a cozy tavern and a lovely entrance. With the right background information, the stay can be quite affordable. I think we'll come back.
