Appartements MAIER

It was the best apartment stay I’ve had. The place is cosy and fairly spacious, with everything listed in the description. It stayed lovely and warm in winter thanks to both radiators and underfloor heating. Even the bathroom had a heated towel rail. They provided big and small towels in four different colours, a really handy touch. The kitchen was genuinely fully equipped for cooking, with sponges, cloths, tea towels, cleaning products, and dishwasher tablets. Everything was spotless. There’s a ski room downstairs with heated racks for skis or snowboards and boots. The house has three rental apartments plus the owner’s apartment, and it was very quiet. Down in the basement, there’s a sauna for up to four people, along with a shower, toilet, and loungers. It costs €24. Obertaurern is about an 18 minute drive away, with Flachau and Schladming also nearby. Hoffer supermarket, with a wide range of good products, is a three minute drive away. The Wi-Fi was the one thing that didn’t work well. It was very weak, though I didn’t mind. If you need to work and rely on a stable connection, make sure you have mobile data. Messaging Christine in English was easy, and she made sure our requests were taken care of. You can’t pay by card on site, so bring cash for extras like the sauna or tax. I’d highly recommend this place for a great holiday.

We’ve returned to Ferienhaus Maier year after year and always have a great time. The host family is warm and puts in a lot of effort to make each visit special. The apartments are incredibly cosy and have everything you could need. Fresh bread rolls can be delivered daily, with lots of choices. After a full day of skiing or hiking, the sauna is a real treat, like a little wellness retreat. We love it here.
