With nine of us, having a properly equipped kitchen mattered, and it was perfect for our group. The furnishings were adequate, and the fireplace in the living room made things cozy. There was even a grill and a guitar. We all felt comfortable in this holiday home, which has a fantastic, quiet setting and superb views. We can highly recommend Haus Meixner.

Everything was just right for our comfortable stay of about 14 days. Fresh bread rolls and a newspaper arrived every morning, and the hosts were very friendly and attentive. Getting to all kinds of places for excursions was easy too.

The main problem was the mold on a bedroom wall, which was damp and moldy. We had someone with asthma in our group, so this was completely unacceptable and a health hazard. The landlord needs to look after the apartment, not just own it. We filled in the questionnaire listing the problems and asking to be contacted by email, but we’ve been home for two weeks and heard nothing. It seems he’s made his money from us and that’s that. There was a building site right next door, and construction noise woke us every morning at 7:00. Another family left a day early because rubble was sliding onto their terrace. The landlord may not be responsible for the building work itself, but guests should be told about it beforehand. The kitchen equipment was abysmal, especially the cooking utensils. The pots were very worn, their lids barely fit, there were no stirring spoons, and one pan was cracked. The apartment is meant for up to six people, so how are you supposed to cook properly with that? The stove light, bread slicer stand, and coffee machine’s brewing mechanism were broken too. For an apartment at this price, a decent kitchen isn’t too much to ask. A new set of pots and pans or a coffee maker doesn’t cost the earth. A bathroom light was broken as well. Cleanliness seemed okay at first glance, but some areas could have been done more thoroughly. Dirt collected beneath the glass plates covering the sinks, which didn’t feel very hygienic, especially in the bathroom. We’ve stayed in this area twice before and can’t recommend this vacation rental. The apartment is spacious and nicely furnished, but that’s where the positives end. The landlord doesn’t live there, and we never saw him. The key was left under the doormat, so no one was there to issue guest cards. We filled something out and were given a carbon copy to use as a guest card. Normally, each person gets their own card from the landlord. That’s how it works, and the tourist information office confirmed it. The cards offer discounts and let guests stay separate from each other.

I stayed in the cottage for two weeks and couldn’t find any drawbacks. It was very clean and spacious.
