Wildfang Spa Retreat Seefeld

When the cleaning staff finally arrived, they cleaned the apartment well after returning from their shift 45 minutes later. That didn’t fix the overall poor condition, and we never received the guest card that was supposedly included. The attached pictures were taken after the cleaning. My wife, our 7-month-old daughter, and I arrived after a 10-hour drive with high hopes, based on the rental photos. Even from the parking area, it was clear the reality didn’t match what we’d seen online. The grounds were unkempt, almost neglected. Inside, the room hadn’t been cleaned. We’d planned to unload, feed our child, and put her to bed, but that wasn’t possible. The kitchen table and chairs were filthy, there were leftovers from previous guests in the kitchen, and the trash was overflowing. The bathroom was also very dirty. Food scraps and other remains from the previous guests’ child were stuck to the highchair, and the crib was in a similar state. The owner, Mr. Kaltschmid, could have handled this with more understanding. I wasn’t happy on the phone, understandably, but stayed objective and asked for a reasonable solution. He said he’d send someone to clean quickly and assumed our priority was having a clean bathroom that night. I explained calmly that the whole apartment needed to be cleaned immediately. Mr. Kaltschid then became rude and inappropriate, raising his voice and repeatedly saying he didn’t want to discuss it there, that he’d send someone to clean, and that he’d send the cleaning staff home at once if I “berated” them. I asked whether there was another solution. Since Mr. Kaltschmid had apparently married into Austria’s largest hotelier family, which owns several properties in Seefeld, I thought it should have been possible to put us somewhere else for the night until the apartment could be properly cleaned the next day. There also seemed to be several apartments available at the Wildfang on our arrival day. He ignored that question and snapped that we could go for a walk, get food, or have coffee while the cleaning was done. Given his mistake, I thought inviting us to one of the hotel restaurants would have been appropriate, but that didn’t occur to him. He seemed rushed, annoyed, rude, and completely overwhelmed. That wasn’t the Tyrolean hospitality I remembered. He ended the call by saying he wouldn’t discuss anything else with me that day, would inform the cleaning staff, and would have another clarifying conversation the next day. I repeated that we needed clarification, and the call ended. I haven’t heard from Mr. Kaltschmid since, which really annoys me. The pictures used to advertise the rentals had raised our expectations. Even though the place was a disaster for us, this could have been handled better. I can only hope he treats guests in the holiday apartments like second-class citizens and not guests at the hotel he manages. With that kind of “hospitality,” the hotel will soon lose customers.

A wonderful stay, and a well-earned 5 stars. The owner was kind and helpful, and the apartment was clean and comfortable. We won’t forget it.
