Landhaus Müller

We had a memorable short break in September, with lovely weather and a warm welcome from the super-friendly Müller family. The terrace had a fantastic view, and the apartment left us wanting for nothing. It’s right in the heart of the Alpbach Valley, with great trips to nearby mountain peaks and lakes. We’d love to come back. Full ***** stars for the stay!

We’re bewildered by how things ended after 14 years as regular guests. The three of us, all adults, always came with our miniature wire-haired dachshund, and over the years a friendship grew. We spent evenings together, were invited to barbecues, went on a few trips, and brought expensive gifts each year. As two retirees staying four weeks, we paid tourist tax for only a few days, got a small rental discount, and weren’t charged for the dog. This year, construction started on the neighboring property a little way off. That might have been manageable, but cement mixers, cars, and construction workers were right in front of the terrace. We couldn’t use the terrace, and the apartment’s only view was blocked. Then, six days before we arrived, we were told the daily rental rate was going up by €5. We raised the issue more than once and got ignored. I wrote from home that we were still upset about it. The response was a long email that practically called us the “last people,” meaning the worst in the world. There were also issues we attributed to the annual “habit”: towels weren’t changed weekly, rubbish couldn’t be sorted properly, and the garage stayed locked and wasn’t cleaned, let alone disinfected. There was dust on and inside the cupboards, cobwebs under the beds, and dust bunnies on the inside of the kitchen door where the drinking glasses were kept. We were told the landlady doesn’t like cleaning and prefers sitting at the computer. She was friendly and helpful to our faces, but spoke badly about us behind our backs. We aren’t angry or bitter, just bewildered. Dear vacationers, be careful. We can document all of this with yearly video recordings.

It was a quiet area, and we had a wonderful holiday. The apartment was very clean, with a lovely terrace and garden, and the couple who own it were lovely too. Highly recommended.

A great apartment and really nice landlords. We stayed here in 2017 and are coming back in 2019 for the cattle drive.
