We didn’t get to try the spa or pools since we were only passing through, though they looked really nice. The setting is beautiful, with wonderful nature all around, and breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. The rooms feel dated and weren’t in great shape; the walls were cracked.

There are plenty of sports options, and the view is nice. The food is good, and the place is always packed. It’s impressive that they keep drawing so many people. I found the overall mix of art and concept a little odd, and the interior doesn’t feel cohesive or charming to me. The new rooms are great, though, and make up for that.

The soup and wild boar were good, reasonably priced, and went well with a nice Weisbeer. I met a colleague for dinner, and they kindly put the World Cup football on TV for me. The seasonal menu had lots of meat options. I took a star off for the presentation, and there was a bit too much sauce on the meat, but it was decent overall.

There are lots of things for kids to do nearby, including a playground and a Robin Hood archery tour, plus plenty more. It’s a great spot for caravans: parking is free, electricity costs 10€, and even refilling water is free, though it can be difficult.

The people were really friendly and welcoming, at least. The room is only a little bigger than the twin-sized bed in it, which makes the hotel feel expensive. Concierge service was almost nonexistent, and the restaurant seemed overpriced for the quality and service.
