Saalbach does involve some walking to reach the lifts, though the hotel shuttle is handy in the morning if you’d rather not walk. We’ve just returned from a great ski holiday, and the hotel staff were amazing, offering personal service and doing everything they could to keep us happy and meet our needs across the kitchen, bar, room, spa, and elsewhere. The rooms were very nice and clean. The spa was great too, with a sauna, jacuzzi, ice bath, and indoor and outdoor pools. The ski room was the best I’ve seen, with spacious, impressive cabinets and easy access.

We had the best trip and a wonderful stay here. The rooms were spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of storage and lovely decor. The hotel was immaculate, with first-class spa, pool, and relaxation facilities. Staff throughout the restaurant and bar were so attentive and ready to help with anything. Everyone was friendly and the front desk always greeted us with a smile. We’ll definitely be back!

On this latest visit, I was again impressed by how polished and clean the whole Alpin Resort is, with high-end furnishings in every room. I’ve stayed here many times over the past ten years, and the same staff often remember me, which is lovely. They’re consistently polite and efficient, and seem to enjoy working here. The cuisine is five-star at every meal, and even a late lunch after skiing is available until around 4pm. The spa and pools are among the best I’ve experienced anywhere. ‘ English Michael ‘ runs the spa with fresh towels and friendly, impeccable service during the daily herb sauna infusion. The new ski locker room is enormous, with a special lift straight to street level, just a short walk from the lifts. Owner Jakob Edrey is there at dinner each day, quietly checking on things and greeting guests. It’s an impressive, graceful management style. Michael at the bar is one of the most professional bartenders I’ve met, serving aperitifs with a light touch that makes you feel like his only guest that evening. Charly, Aline, and the rest of the waiters have always looked after us incredibly well, even when the dining room is full and their work is demanding. The rooftop Jacuzzi is another highlight: soaking in the warm, bubbling water while watching the piste bashers working under floodlights and looking up at the stars is a special feeling. In my opinion, this destination resort is far better than the only seven-star hotel in the world, where I’ve also stayed.

After more than 40 years of skiing and my tenth visit to this fabulous hotel, I’ve finally found the place that ticks every box: Alpinresort ValSaa - Sport & Spa in Saalbarch. I’m already planning to come back next year. From the warm, homely welcome at reception to the beautifully furnished, spacious rooms, the stay feels special. The rooms have amazing views, are well equipped, and come with a welcome gift and premium bathroom products. The bar and restaurant are just as impressive, with friendly, efficient service and quality that’s hard to beat. The boot room lockers are the best I’ve seen anywhere. The owner is always around and keeps investing in improving the guest experience year after year. A fabulous stay.
