ARCOTEL Castellani Salzburg

The grounds around the hotel were lovely and well kept, and the building itself is beautiful. My room was new, modern, and really comfortable. The staff were so friendly and attentive, which made the whole stay even nicer. I enjoyed every moment and would happily recommend this place.

Breakfast was the best food we had during our whole time in Europe, and the hotel is beautiful. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, so we had a great stay overall. The reason I gave four stars is that we found body hair all over the sheets when we pulled back the bedding. There was more on the bathroom floor and in the shower, plus long hairs in the towels. Apart from that, it’s a great hotel.

Renovations are understandable, but the noise made it impossible to relax. Drills and hammers carried on until 7 p.m., just when I wanted to unwind in my room, then started again at 7 a.m. in a hotel where guests are paying to sleep. That shows a blatant lack of respect. I can’t recommend this place.

The rooms were clean and spacious, and the hotel is in a convenient location. Still, the reception experience seriously dragged down the stay. There was no greeting or welcome, just a cold, dismissive manner. One employee questioned whether I really needed the two rooms I’d booked for our party of four, and was openly hostile. I can only speculate whether it had anything to do with us being American, but the treatment was unacceptable. One elevator was out of service, and the hotel felt somewhat neglected and in disrepair. Breakfast was fine for the price, though short on variety. The place has potential, but better management and customer service at the front desk could make a big difference.
