Getting into the heart of Salzburg to see the main sights was quick and easy, and the hotel was peaceful when we wanted to relax. The internet was fast and reliable. Our room at Gasthof Hotel Doktorwirt was spacious, spotless and nicely decorated, with lovely views to wake up to. The family-owned feel brought a warmth and care you don’t get at big chain hotels. Staff looked after us wonderfully, and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. We had a fantastic stay, and the family and team made our visit memorable. This place is a lovely mix of traditional Austrian warmth and modern comfort, and we can’t recommend it enough.

The gardens are lovely and spacious, a great place to relax. The hotel itself is nice and roomy, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, but they’re starting to look dated and could use a makeover. Breakfast is the only meal offered.

After busy days exploring Salzburg, it was lovely to come back to such a relaxing place. We stayed at Gasthof Hotel Doktorwirt for three nights last week, and the rooms were spotless, comfortable and spacious. Our pillows were quite flat, but when we asked the next day, we were given new ones. Our children loved both the indoor and outdoor pools. The garden and trampoline would have been fun for them in sunnier weather. Breakfast was wonderful, whether we sat on the terrace when it was sunny or in the cozy dining room on wet days. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but we ate twice at one about two minutes away and enjoyed the food both times. Getting into town was easy: the bus stop is around a three-minute walk away, and frequent buses took about 12 minutes. We used the free bus passes from the hotel. Thanks for a fabulous stay!

A lovely setting for this traditional, family-run Austrian hotel. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast spread was good. Our room had what we needed, though the pillow was a bit flat and the lampshade hung too low. It’s a little out of town, but only about 15 minutes by bus.
