Hotel Hohenstauffen

The rooms look a little dated, but everything was well maintained, and the staff were very kind. Breakfast was simple. The hotel is about a 500-meter walk from Salzburg station. Guests get a Mobility Card for transport around the Salzburg area, and can also ride bus no.150 to Bad ischl for free.

The staff made the stay for me. They were friendly, gave me useful suggestions for what to see in town, and made the visit enjoyable. My room was incredibly comfortable, with a supportive bed, good heating, and nice light. The hotel is cosy, classically styled, and well maintained, right by the train station and bus hub, with free parking too. I’d recommend it if you’re in town.

The staff were the stars, welcoming us with real smiles and giving us a map with a self-guided walking tour. Their restaurant tips all worked out, and the happy hour drinks were another nice touch. We were a family of five in two rooms, just before New Year, with fresh snow making everything look like a postcard. The location is close enough to stroll around, but far enough away to sleep well. It’s a well-kept old hotel, with a cosy Austrian feel and no pretence. The beds are on the compact side, so if you’re over 6 foot you may need to bend your knees or sleep diagonally. Four and a half stars from this Australian. Sehr gut, mate. Why not five? Perfection needs to give you a reason to return.

The wonderful staff made my seven-night Christmas stay at hotel Hohenstaufen in Salzburg a great time. Everything was top class. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay again.
