Hotel Kristall

We left feeling uncomfortable and, on my behalf, racially discriminated against. At arrival, the host looked up my Arabic name and put us in a small, dark room with twin beds facing the yard and a tiny bathroom, far cheaper than the double room for couples we had booked. My Caucasian boyfriend asked politely whether there had been a mistake, since the room did not match what we paid for or the pictures. The host, who was in the hotel restaurant chatting with staff, then moved us to the room we had reserved. After that, several things made us feel unwelcome. At dinner, the taller waitress with bleached hair and tattooed eyebrows, in her late 30s to 40s, brought me an almost empty glass of wine after I ordered one. Other guests had full glasses. She was dismissive and rude, joking at the bar with the restaurant owner. Those staff members had been together earlier when my boyfriend requested the room change. The clearly reheated, overcooked food gave us bad stomachs. We stayed respectful and tipped the waitress, who asked for a tip in a passive aggressive way. At our early checkout at 10 the next morning, the same waitress saw us leaving and completely ignored us. The bathroom also wasn’t clean: there was hair on the sink and brown spots on the toilet seat.
