The room decor has a bit of a grandma’s-house feel, but everything was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Our host was very accommodating with us and our young child. We also enjoyed the lovely evening food, which was very fairly priced. It’s a nice base for a few nights and some hiking in the beautiful mountains. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The one real plus was the bus stop close by, with a direct bus to the ski resort. Beyond that, our school trip was probably the worst we’ve had. The hostel is up on a mountain, so there’s a walk up and down every day. The bathrooms feel stuck in the 80s, the shower head can’t even be hung up, and the lighting is dim. There were frequent power cuts, and some lights didn’t work. By day four, waste was backing up through a first-floor toilet and shower drain. Food was awful, and everyone had diarrhea or was vomiting. Breakfast was the same each morning, with little choice: rolls, bread, two jams, cheese, ham, and salami. Dinner was sometimes swimming in oil, and the vegetarian options were just vegetables. The staff gossiped about us in Bulgarian, and someone in our group understood them. We were fined if we didn’t sort our rubbish properly, even though there wasn’t a general waste bin. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The building looked all right from the outside, but the first night a mouse ran through the house. We also couldn’t get a hot shower at any point. My classmates and I had to shower cold every day, regardless of when we went. Our room windows let in drafts, and the nights kept getting colder. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
