Hotel Speiereck

We were looking for a small, cozy hotel with a warm, slightly old-fashioned feel, and it turned out to be exactly right. The managers made us feel like welcome guests, and the friendly atmosphere was lovely. Dinner was tip-top every evening, and we enjoyed all of it. It’s also near the ski lift in a nice ski area. We’ll certainly be back.

The food was fantastic, the rooms comfortable, and the location is nearly ski-in/ski-out. We booked half board, and despite the lobby looking a little old-fashioned and feeling somewhat dark, it was welcoming. A young Portuguese employee greeted us, explained that he was an employee and the owners hadn’t arrived yet, showed us around, and carried our suitcases upstairs. The best surprise came just an hour before dinner. My wife and I are vegetarians and our young daughter is vegan, but we’d forgotten to mention it when booking. I told the owner, Gunna, and she simply said they’d take care of it, even though none of that evening’s planned dishes were vegetarian. She didn’t make an issue of the late notice and found a solution. The owner and her family are from Iceland. Thank you to Gunna and her husband for being so kind and welcoming.

Dinner was a highlight of our stay, every meal was delicious and left us full and happy. In the mornings, the breakfast area had a fantastic view of the Austrian Alps. The setting among the mountains made the trip even nicer, and there’s a lovely sauna and easy access to outdoor activities. The staff were warm and attentive, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had a delightful stay at Hotel Speiereck and will definitely come back.

We were on a long journey and stayed just one night, and the hotel suited us perfectly. The young staff gave us excellent service and were there for their customers. Our room and bathroom were on the small side, but the continental bed was large and very comfortable. We also had access to a lovely big terrace with mountain views. The breakfast buffet was small, perhaps because there were only a few guests, but it was pleasant and varied. The restaurant had an appealing traditional Austrian style, with mountain views while you eat.
