The village is peaceful and beautiful, with fresh air, lovely views, and a calm feel that made it easy to switch off. The nearby lake was quiet and picturesque, and spending time there was one of the best parts of our stay. Mark and Gabi, thank you for being so warm, kind, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. My friend and I spent four nights here in mid-June 2026, and left relaxed, recharged, and grateful. Mark and Gabi made us feel at home right away. They were warm, kind, welcoming, and professional. When I felt a bit cold one evening and asked for another blanket, they brought one straight away. Mark also let us use his private rowboat for free, a special bonus that gave us another wow moment. The apartment is near Scheffau, above Hintersteiner See, on a small hill with a wonderful lake and mountain view. It’s so quiet and peaceful. After 17:00 there are almost no cars or people around, just the guests, and it really feels like a private paradise. We found the place comfortable, clean, and completely new-feeling, with a nice living room, two large bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with high-quality SMEG appliances. It had everything we needed and more. The whole stay was above our expectations. Thank you, Mark and Gabi, for your kindness and for creating such a special place. Highly recommended.

Mark Pirkner of the Seespitzhof farm raises Arctic char in ponds on the shore of Lake Hinterstein, using water from his own spring. It stays at eight degrees Celsius all year, and the fish are kept at low density and grow without chemicals, developing firm, flavorful flesh. At 350-400 grams, they generally reach the ideal size for fine dining after three years. Mark also offers the fish alongside Alpine pork and dwarf zebu cattle. Lake Hinterstein is a popular place for walkers and cyclists, and also draws swimmers in summer.

The apartment is tastefully and luxuriously furnished, with a view of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range and a prime spot beside beautiful Hintersteiner See. With such charming surroundings and wonderful hosts, it’s all you need for a few days of fresh air. Fantastic, thank you so much!
