Hotel Alpenkönigin Alpine Luxury

The wellness area was a nice touch, with a sauna, steam bath, showers, an outdoor area, a solarium and a cold pool. Watch your step in the pool, though, as the steps are uneven and dangerous. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and at check-in or over breakfast we could pick the main course for our half-board dinner. We were warmly welcomed and had the key things explained when we arrived. Staff were very friendly, and there were just enough free parking spaces. I do think the staff or owners should leave the parking around the hotel for guests and park farther away themselves. There are also two spaces with charging infrastructure. The only reason for four stars is housekeeping: not every towel they took away was replaced, so by the end of the week we had to ask reception for more.

We paid over €1,000 for three nights, and I'm definitely not happy with what we got. On New Year's Eve, dinner started at 18:30, but our mains didn't arrive until 21:30. We sat there for three hours waiting for lackluster food, and finally gave up on dessert because we'd already wasted enough of our lives at the table. Other guests didn't seem pleased either. The servers wandered around and went out for smoke breaks, and nobody checked whether we wanted more drinks. I had to ask, then remind one of them because she forgot my order. The pool was cold, and the terrace was shared without dividers.

We had a nice, clean room, but 303 really wasn't set up for a family with two kids aged 11-12. I don't know whether Famiski arranged that room or the hotel did. The extra seat that became the kids' bed was too hard, too small, and creaked every time they moved. There was a dip at the head end, so their heads and shoulders sat lower than their bodies, or their legs stuck out. The room was far too hot, but opening a window at night sent cold air almost straight onto the extra bed. Church bells rang at 05.30 am too. The hotel is nicely situated near the ski area. A back door across the field would make the way shorter when there's snow. The ski room has lockers, but each locker is for two people. A few more for rooms with three or four people would help, since I kept having to take boots to dry in the room. The food was good, though the buffets needed refilling more often. Some desserts had run out, and we had to ask for more fries and nuggets from the kids' buffet. If there's an extra activity before dinner, don't make it compulsory for people wanting to eat at 06.30 pm. Families with children were waiting for the accordion player to finish. The guy serving the back could use a medallion for being so stressed.

We've been coming here for winter sports for many years. It's close to the ski lift and has good parking. The staff are very friendly, and both breakfast and dinner are really nice. Rooms are fine, very tidy and clean.
