That visit brought back childhood memories, and the stay at the Berghof was almost better than I remembered. The hotel and rooms were lovely, and breakfast was amazing. The host went out of his way for us. When we couldn't find a taxi after our trip to Graz, he picked us up from the train station at 11.30 pm. He also called to warn us that a rainstorm was coming. It felt like my father was looking out for me, though he was a generation younger.

We stopped at the restaurant for cappuccino, but it was so bitter and expensive that it was basically undrinkable. At best, it was an attempt at what people call coffee with milk, not a cappuccino. There was no sign saying cash was the only payment option, but cards weren't accepted. There was no Wi-Fi either, and the waitress didn't speak English. Two other customers also wanted to pay and leave, but didn't know they needed cash. They had to go to Billa with the waitress to get some, and we had to translate what they were saying for her.

Stay somewhere else. The staff were very impolite and unprofessional, and I wouldn't book accommodation at this hotel.

The food could be better, and the service was quite slow. Still, the restaurant has a lovely setting and a very nice outdoor area. I was also pleased to see a decent selection for vegetarians.

The atmosphere was nice, but the menu was only in German and the waiting staff didn't speak English. Prices were a bit high. We had our 2-year-old with us, and the waiter told her to be quiet. Wouldn't recommend it.
